The name "high-entropy" refers to increased entropy when many elements are mixed, making it easier for the alloy to form stable solid solution structures rather than complex intermetallic compounds. The internal microstructure of high-entropy alloys is disordered and randomly arranged. They are achieved through rapid cooling (quenching) of high-temperature liquid metals. High-entropy alloys exhibit superior fracture resistance, tensile strength, corrosion resistance, and oxidation resistance compared to traditional alloys.
