The name "high-entropy" refers to the increase in entropy when a large number of elements are mixed, making it easier for the alloy to form stable solid solution structures rather than complex intermetallic compounds. The internal microstructure of high-entropy alloys is disordered and randomly arranged. They are achieved through rapid cooling (quenching) of high-temperature liquid metals. High-entropy alloys exhibit superior fracture resistance, tensile strength, corrosion resistance, and oxidation resistance compared to traditional alloys.
