Vanadium nitride is an oblate, cylindrical or prismatic solid with no pungent odor. It has a beige metallic luster with a density of 2.9~3.5g/cm3. It is an important vanadium alloy additive like ferrovanadium and can be used in structural steel, tool steel, pipeline steel, reinforcing steel, ordinary engineering steel, and cast iron.

Vanadium Nitrogen (VN) Alloy Applications

The addition of vanadium nitride to steel can improve the comprehensive mechanical properties of steel such as wear resistance, corrosion resistance, toughness, strength, hardness, ductility, and thermal fatigue resistance, and make the steel have good weldability. Especially in high-strength low-alloy steels, vanadium nitride alloy additives are more conducive to the precipitation of vanadium carbide and vanadium nitride in the steel, thereby strengthening and refining grains more effectively.
