Hafnium Oxide Powder is a white powder with similar chemical properties to zirconium oxide. It is insoluble in water, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, and other common inorganic acids. It slowly dissolves in hydrofluoric acid to form hafnium fluoride salts. It reacts with hot concentrated sulfuric acid or hydrogen sulfate to yield hafnium sulfate. When mixed and heated with carbon in the presence of chlorine gas, it produces hafnium tetrachloride.
