Gallium sulfide is a yellow crystal or white amorphous solid. The melting point is 1255±10°C. Soluble in acid and alkali. Decomposes in water. It can be oxidized by bromine into Ga2(SO4)3. It can be obtained by reacting sulfur and gallium in a nitrogen stream, or heating gallium oxide and hydrogen sulfide to 600-1200°C.
