Dysprosium(III) chloride (DyCl3), also known as dysprosium trichloride, is a compound of dysprosium and chlorine. It is a white to yellow solid which rapidly absorbs water on exposure to moist air to form a hexahydrate, DyCl3.6H2O. HM stocks a wide variety of rare earth materials for use in electronics, petrochemical, metallurgy, machinery, energy, environmental protection, agriculture and other fields. We also offer pure metals and compounds for R&D applications.
Dysprosium Chloride has specialized uses in laser glass, phosphors, and Dysprosium Metal halide lamps. Dysprosium is used in conjunction with Vanadium and other elements, in making laser materials and commercial lighting. Dysprosium is one of the components of Terfenol-D, which is employed in transducers, wide-band mechanical resonators, and high-precision liquid-fuel injectors. Dysprosium and its compounds are highly susceptible to magnetization, they are employed in various data-storage applications, such as in hard disks.

Dysprosium(III) chloride can be used as a starting point for the preparation of other dysprosium salts. Dysprosium metal is produced when a molten mixture of DyCl3 in eutectic LiCl-KCl is electrolyzed. The reduction occurs via Dy2+, at a tungsten cathode.
Packing: The products are vacuum-sealed. The MSDS and Material Certification Sheets will be packed with the product.
