Lithium Hexafluorophosphate (LiPF6) has the appearance of a white crystalline powder. It is highly decomposable when exposed to air or heated. It decomposes rapidly due to the action of water vapor, releasing PF5 and producing white fumes, which have an erosive effect on the eyes, skin, and especially the lungs. It is mainly used as electrolyte material for lithium-ion batteries.
