Holmium (Ho) is a soft and malleable rare earth element, which belongs to the lanthanide series of elements and is considered a rare earth metal. It is fairly corrosion-resistant and stable in dry air at standard temperature and pressure but easily oxidizes in moist air. It has the highest magnetic moment of the naturally occurring elements and forms highly magnetic compounds when alloyed with yttrium. HM stocks various rare earth materials for use in electronics, petrochemicals, metallurgy, machinery, energy, environmental protection, agriculture, and other fields. Holmium (Ho) Metal Applications
- Used for making specialty alloys and superconductive materials.
- Used in Yttrium-Aluminum-Garnet (YAG) and Yttrium-Lanthanum-Fluoride (YLF) solid-state lasers found in microwave equipment (which are in turn found in a variety of medical and dental settings).
- Holmium lasers are used in medical, dental, and fiber-optical applications.
- Used for cubic zirconia and glass, providing yellow or red coloring.
- Be further processed into various shapes of ingots, pieces, wires, foils, slabs, rods, discs, and powder.
