More info

Macor Disc is a high-performance glass-ceramic component designed for demanding applications that require complex shapes and tight tolerances. Unlike most ceramics, Macor can be machined using standard metalworking equipment such as lathes, mills, grinders, and drills—no sintering or post-firing is required. With proper clamping and machining parameters, surface finishes as smooth as 0.5 μm and dimensional tolerances as tight as ±0.005 mm are achievable. This makes it a practical material choice for components where both thermal stability and design flexibility are critical, such as in electronics, aerospace, and vacuum systems. Heeger Materials provides high-quality Macor Disc solutions for precision-engineered applications.

Macor Disc Key Features

  • Easily Machinable: Can be precisely machined with standard metalworking tools—no need for diamond tools or post-firing.
  • High Temperature Resistance: Maintains stability from cryogenic temperatures up to 800°C continuous use, and up to 1000°C in non-load-bearing conditions.
  • Excellent Electrical Insulation: Offers strong dielectric strength, making it ideal for high-voltage and electronic insulation applications.
  • Low Outgassing: Suitable for high-vacuum environments due to its zero porosity and low gas emission rate.
  • Dimensional Stability: Low thermal expansion ensures precision tolerances are maintained during thermal cycling.

Macor Disc Applications

  • Semiconductor Processing Equipment: Used as insulating spacers and support discs in cleanroom and vacuum environments.
  • Aerospace Systems: Ideal for high-temperature structural components in engines and test equipment.
  • Medical Devices: Applied in radiation-resistant components and non-magnetic operating tools.
  • Analytical Instruments: Acts as a mounting substrate or sample holder in mass spectrometers and electron microscopes.
  • Scientific Prototyping: Enables rapid development of high-precision parts without mold or firing delays.

Macor Disc Packing

The Macor Disc will be carefully placed in wooden cases or cartons, with additional support from soft materials, to prevent shifting during transportation. This packaging method guarantees the integrity of the products throughout the delivery process.
