Using the reduction method. The chemically measured carbon and vanadium pentoxide are mixed thoroughly in a nitrogen atmosphere at 1250 ℃ for a reduction-nitridation reaction to produce vanadium nitride. Also can be produced by a nitrogen-hydrogen gas mixture with vanadium tetrachloride at 1400-1600 ℃ or ammonia (NH3) with ammonium metavanadate (NH4VO3) at 1000-1100°C for a reaction.
