Magnesium-lithium master alloy is the lowest density of structural metal materials. Lithium is added to magnesium metal, generally containing 14-16% lithium, and its specific gravity is between 1.4-1.6, which is more than 1.8 of the general magnesium alloy. Low, slightly higher than plastic density, strength 220-340MPa, elastic modulus 40GPa. The damping is more than ten times that of aluminum alloy, that is, it can absorb impact energy and has a good shock and noise reduction effect. Magnesium-lithium alloy also has outstanding performance in shielding electromagnetic interference.
Magnesium alloys are the lightest structural and hence suitable for application within the automotive industry, which has increased attention to vehicle weight and fuel economy.
