The Mg-Dy binary alloy of the same composition has a slightly lower overall performance than the Mg-Gd alloy, and due to the addition of heavy rare earth, its cost increases, its density increases, and its toughness decreases. Adding other alloying elements to Mg-Dy alloys, such as Nd, Y, etc., can further improve the properties of magnesium alloys.
