The zirconium rod is highly suited for use in nuclear power rods due to its minimal neutron absorption cross-section and an impressive melting point of 1855°C (3371°F). This silvery metallic element also enhances the wear resistance and hardness of commercial amorphous metals, often referred to as metallic glass.
