Highly Oriented Pyrolytic Graphite (HOPG) is a highly crystallized form of graphite with excellent grain alignment and a high degree of graphitization. It is produced from pyrolytic graphite (PG) through specialized processing, followed by high-temperature, high-pressure treatment, which enhances the structural order of carbon layers. This transformation results in a quasi-crystalline graphite structure with superior orientation properties. HOPG is widely used in scientific research, precision instrumentation, and industrial applications, including X-ray monochromators, neutron filters, and fundamental studies on graphite properties and intercalation compounds.
