The product appears black with a slight silver-gray hue, showcasing a metallic luster. It possesses a smooth texture, insoluble in water and dilute acid, yet soluble in aqua regia and hot concentrated sulfuric acid. Sublimation of molybdenum disulfide initiates at 450°C.
