Zinc Telluride is a binary chemical compound with the formula ZnTe. This solid is a semiconductor material with a direct bandgap of 2.26 eV. It is usually a p-type semiconductor. Its crystal structure is cubic, like that for sphalerite and diamond.

Zinc Telluride Application

The main uses of zinc telluride and zinc selenide are similar, can be used as a semiconductor and infrared material, and has the characteristics of optical conductivity, fluorescence, and so on.

Zinc telluride crystals have good electro-optical effects under near-infrared (~ 800nm) ultrafine pulse action and mature preparation technology. They are commonly used as optical rectifying THz radiation source and detection material, and also have applications in green light-emitting devices, solar cells, waveguides, modulators, and other photoelectric devices.
