Its broad emission range of 1023-1060 nm enables ultrashort pulse generation in the ps or fs range. The wide absorption band and high absorption at 980 nm allow efficient diode laser pumping. Compared to Yb:YAG Crystal, KGW offers a larger absorption cross-section, reducing the minimum pump intensity required for transparency in the quasi-two-level system.
