Tantalum Tungsten (Ta-W) Alloy combines the excellent corrosion resistance and high-temperature stability of tantalum with increased mechanical strength provided by tungsten alloying.
Heeger Materials supplies Ta-2.5W (R05252) and Ta-10W (R05255) as primary tantalum-tungsten alloy grades, together with Ta-5W and Ta-7.5W for specific requirements.
Available product forms include plate, sheet, strip, rod, powder, tube, and custom-fabricated components. Custom dimensions, tolerances, conditions, and fabrication can be supplied according to customer specifications and technical drawings.
| Alloy | UNS Grade | Nominal Composition | Key Characteristic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ta-2.5W | R05252 | Ta + 2.5% W | Strength and fabrication balance |
| Ta-5W | Custom | Ta + 5% W | Intermediate W content |
| Ta-7.5W | Custom | Ta + 7.5% W | Higher W content |
| Ta-10W | R05255 | Ta + 10% W | Higher strength |
Ta-5W and Ta-7.5W specifications should be confirmed according to customer requirements.

Tantalum Tungsten Alloy Products (Ta2.5W, Ta10W) belongs to the tantalum products range and is selected for corrosion resistance, biocompatibility and high-temperature stability. It is commonly used in shafts, pins, supports, electrodes, fixtures and machined components as well as chemical processing, medical devices, electronics, vacuum systems and high-temperature components. When requesting a quote, confirm diameter, length, straightness, tolerance, surface finish and quantity.
Ta-2.5W is a tantalum alloy containing nominally 2.5% tungsten. The tungsten addition increases strength compared with unalloyed tantalum while maintaining a useful combination of ductility, corrosion resistance, high-temperature stability, and fabrication capability.
Ta-2.5W is commonly selected when an application requires higher strength than pure tantalum without the higher tungsten content of Ta-10W.
Ta-10W contains nominally 10% tungsten and provides higher mechanical strength than pure tantalum and Ta-2.5W.
It is suitable for demanding high-temperature, structural, chemical-processing, vacuum, and specialized engineering applications where increased strength is an important material-selection factor.
Ta-W alloy plate, sheet, and strip are available for high-temperature components, chemical-processing equipment, furnace components, fabricated assemblies, and custom engineering parts.
Custom thickness, width, length, tolerance, and surface requirements can be reviewed.
Ta-W alloy rod is available for machined parts, supports, electrodes, fixtures, high-temperature components, and other precision-engineered applications.
Please specify the required alloy, diameter, length, tolerance, straightness, surface condition, and quantity.
Ta-W alloy tubing is available for selected chemical-processing, vacuum, high-temperature, and specialized engineering applications.
For a quotation, specify the alloy grade, OD, ID or wall thickness, length, tolerance, and quantity.
Ta-W alloy powder is available for powder-based manufacturing and specialized materials applications.
For powder inquiries, specify the required Ta-W composition, particle size or PSD, morphology, purity requirements, application, and quantity.
Custom tantalum-tungsten components can be manufactured according to customer drawings and technical specifications.
Send us your drawing for manufacturability review and quotation.

Ta-2.5W contains nominally 2.5% tungsten and provides increased strength while maintaining relatively good ductility and fabrication characteristics. Ta-10W contains nominally 10% tungsten and provides higher strength for more demanding applications.
Ta-2.5W is designated R05252, while Ta-10W is designated R05255 under applicable tantalum alloy specifications.
Heeger Materials supplies Ta-W alloy in plate, sheet, strip, rod, powder, tube, and custom-fabricated forms. Availability depends on alloy composition, dimensions, and quantity.
Ta-5W and Ta-7.5W can be reviewed for specific requirements. Please provide the required composition, product form, dimensions, quantity, and applicable technical specifications.
Yes. Custom tantalum-tungsten alloy components can be reviewed according to customer drawings. Please provide the alloy grade, dimensions, tolerances, surface requirements, condition, and quantity.
